Why Evangelicals Support Trump

They don’t believe in God, Jesus, or the Bible.
But they won’t admit it, especially to themselves.

When you know you are lying, but can’t admit it, it makes you angry. You want others to lie with you, to spread the guilt.

Scapegoats are necessary, to keep the focus on others, not oneself.

Evangelicals are not sequestered. They know the universe is really, really vast, that our planet is an infinitesimally minute point in unimaginable multitudes. They know the planet is really, really old, that life has been here for billions of years. They understand, but refuse to admit, that evolution happens.

Most have not read the whole Bible. If they had, they’d appreciate that it’s interminably boring in large parts, full of contradictions, and totally focused on Jews. For most of the Bible, God is only interested in Jews. Someone who believes every word in the Bible is God’s truth should convert to Judaism.

But if most evangelicals have not read the Bible through, they went to school, watch TV, and hear people talk. They know about the universe and stuff. Which contradicts their beliefs. So they lie and say they believe in what they know isn’t true.

That’s what makes people dangerous. It’s what makes evangelicals support Trump.
